understand. good luck. enjoy the FLA waters (btw: I've never had the guts to tow an M. Did once tow an 18" boat on a small trailer from CLE to Atlantic City. That cured me of long distance trailering.

Given some of the hazards of towing (it ain't for the faint of heart), asking whether you have done the math of towing vs storage? And factoring in the peace of mind and personal effort. ???

WOndering whether this might be an approach. Do a teardown (or close inspection) of one carb to check its condition and assume it applies to the other as well. Clean it/them if required, then use a market-leading cleaner on a regular basis. If they are in good shape, just use the cleaners on a ...

why do you think the carbs need cleaning? and wouldn't some less cumbersome product added to fuel do the same job? (I've gotten skeptical about fuel additive cleaning/polishing/preservation claims)

You may also want to check the sterm white light - they tend to wear out on M's. Between the fwd white light (180 degree coverage) and the stern (ditto), you get 360 degree white steaming light coverage. If West Marine doesn't have it, try going to the mfr web site -- one would be Perko.

just recalled that another place to look for rotation is at the rear of the transm. There may be an arrow stamped there.
