Re: 454 Crusaders - no water intake shutoff valve - good/bad?

You must have shutoff valves! What if a hose fails while at sea or at the dock? I always shut all my thru-hull valves when I leave the boat for the week. That includes toilet and air conditioner valve's. The bilge pump will only run so long. Better safe than sorry.

Re: Tappet adjustment

Did you check your cylinder pressures? Pressure gauge can tell you lots of info.

Mini split is an interesting idea. I just saw one installed on an all solar high end camper. Please keep us informed on this venture.

Re: It’s gone..

I will second all that BlueSkye said. I would run the numbers again on your KW per hour running AC. I would imagine the cost of a solar system big enough to run AC in Florida will make your eyes pop out. Please let us know what cost you come up with so we will know how eye popping it is.

Re: 87 29 FB for sale

I thought the boat market was on fire with high prices. What a great classic boat for a wonderful price. This short term gas price is going to kill the boating this year. We’ve enjoyed our boat for over 10 years with flat depreciation. Put a few grand in it here and there. Still a lot of good times ...

Re: New member with questions, Sedan 32

I had a strong gas smell. It was a small leak coming from the fitting on my fuel pump. Tightened a little and never leaked again. You need to find the leak before something bad happens. Any wetness around a fuel fitting or line is a problem. Let us know what u find.

Re: Low Engine Power, White Smoke

Is the white smoke while you are cruising? If so, that’s steam from the cooling system which is normal. If it happens when you first crank, that’s a valve seal leak I would assume. No big deal.

Mark your flywheel timing mark with a white metal marker. Makes timing way easier.

Tune your carb idle ...
