Tach is to net side. On the old dizzy I took the tach out completely to rule it having an impact out. I really think it's going to be a cap rotor or pickup problem. Dizzy bearings and all look good.

For those of you who don't speak Aussie, a "dizzy" is a distributor, Mate!
G-day.

Used the under cap conversion kit rather than the full distributor replacement (because of the fit issue described in earlier posts)
So far, it has made a big difference.
The correct part number for the 318 is: 91581

That's really odd my ignitor 2 that came with my boat was cut like the photo. I ordered the same part number 1581 and had to cut it the same way. My thing that spins round and make fire 8 times per revolution ( assie for dizzy) has been sent to pertronix maybe they can solve the mystery.

My original port distributor wobbled and would not allow me to set idle below 1000 rpm. Installed pertronix dizzy but I was using wrong mark on flywheel to find tdc on #1 cylinder. Motor was backfiring and spitting fuel out of carb. Finally figured it out and now it purrs like a kitten.
