Windshield

New to the forum and have just purchased a 1966 31 Express. I'm in the process of winterizing prior to shrink wrapping and have found that I have a water leak at the windshield. The windshields are on a piano style hinge and are leaking at the weatherstrip at the hinge area. I have searched at the local Lowes and Home Depot but have not found anything that looks quite right. Ideas?

Try your local glass shops for ideas, or they make a foam weather strip that is peel and stick.

West Marine (and perhaps others) sell a thin, white liquid that gets into cracks and sets up to seal them. I believe the name is Capt Tolley's Crack Sealer. It's for very narrow cracks, not wide ones.

Right! That Captain Tolley stuff works great. Sealed mine years ago and haven't seen a leak yet.

Thanks! I'll check West Marine otherwise known as Victoria's Secret for boaters!

That's it--and it's worth every penny. And that bottle will is all you'll need for the life of the boat.
